City Gardens Project Features Hall Excavating
July 19, 2023
As we continue to shine a spotlight on the many trades responsible for City Gardens, today Kelson Group is featuring Hall Excavating Ltd. The City Gardens project, notably Hall Excavating’s latest and largest commercial/residential project, has been remarkable in the work the company has done in implementing a sustainable project strategy.
Hall Excavating is a second-generation general excavation contractor which has serviced Kamloops and area for over 50 years. Their past collaborations with Kelson Group in Kamloops have included iconic residential projects like Peterson Landing on Summit Drive, plus Rockcliffe at TRU and Liberty Point, both at Thompson Rivers University. When the City Gardens work is complete, Hall Excavating will have excavated over 200,000 cubic meters, or 23,000 truckloads, of material, creating a city block sized hole more than 50′ deep. The concrete, brick and asphalt removed from the structures that formerly occupied the area were recycled and repurposed for site construction use, with the reusable aggregate discovered during foundation excavation deployed to various projects within the Kamloops. Impressively, the construction aggregates required for City Gardens will come from within its footprint. Hall Excavating President Tim Hall stated, “City Gardens is a game-changer for Kamloops. I believe it will reinvigorate Kamloops’ downtown, inspire similar projects, and attract more residents searching for a lifestyle with all the amenities available within and nearby City Gardens. I thank Kelson Group’s leadership of Ron, Jason and Kelly, and their staff who make incredible strides to build a better community, supporting local, and always giving back.”
